Grial appeared for the first time in 1951, however an administrative ban forced it into a silence of more than ten years. It reappeared in 1963 and since then has been published without a break. The universal spirit with which its founders imbued it -to serve as a basis for Galician cultural events and to act as a bridge to incorporate universal culture within Galicia- continues to be the spirit which directs the magazine's production now. After all, this magazine bears the name of a beautiful legend which is the cultural heritage of the whole of Europe, but which is also present in Galician history and art. Thus, in Grial, works appear which satisfy the twofold aim of informing on the realities of Galicia, and at the same time of acquainting us with and reflecting upon the most diverse aspects of universal culture.
